Treading Down Serpents

This entry is part 5 of 5 in the series The Coming Kingdom

In my last post, I talked about the great enmity that is standing between the seed of the woman and the seed of the Serpent in Genesis three fifteen, which should have given us the understanding we are heading toward a battle.

I also had talked about the original sin of Adam, that his sin was an attempt to overthrow God with the support and counsel of Satan, and taking the path of rebellion, Adam brought death upon his life, he was sentenced to death, and cursing the enemy, God has beforehand destroyed the plans and government of the seed of the serpent who is the coming Antichrist.

But what we did not discuss was the power of God, and the authority he gave unto his people, and those coming into his kingdom. But as we review the power of God given to his people, it is also important for us to know that the nations are not ignorant to the reality of God, and that the kingdom belongs to God, and that their actions are a rebellion against the kingship of Jesus Christ.

We know this because God told Adam, Genesis 2:17, “The day you eat from the tree you shall surely die.” Therefore, being tempted, Adam had the knowledge of God and the outcome that would follow his rebellion. Therefore, the nations are not ignorant on account of what they are planning. However, because they have made Lucifer their authority and counsel, they are choosing to be deceived, and so will perish at the appearance of Jesus Christ.

But what does that have to do with the power of God and the authority we have as we prepare for this coming battle? To understand who we are and what we are called to do, we need to listen to the words of Jesus Christ. Jesus said to his disciples returning with joy after defeating the devils and his demons on the mission field. Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and overall the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” And little did we know this power given to the people of God was being drawn from what God did in Genesis when he placed the curse of death and destruction on the empire, seed, and government of the serpent.

Further to that, Jesus said to his disciples, Luke 10:20 “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” Because having our names written in heaven gives us access to the kingdom of God to execute the power of God’s government in the earth. And seeing that God had beforehand prepared an office of power in his kingdom for his people, we need to understand who we are and the power we have as God’s people in his kingdom.

So, what does this all mean? Jesus said we are accountable; it means he is depending on us to carry out his mission as we prepare for the coming seed of the serpent who will raise his head to challenge the kingdom and authority of Jesus Christ. And because we know the world is not ignorant, but are aware of their rebellion, and are choosing to be deceived, it is our duty to warn the nations.

Jesus said, Matthew 28:18 “All power is given unto me in heaven and in the earth.” This said Jesus to his disciples to confirm he has the authority over the kingdom of God and the kingdoms of the world, but the point Jesus was making with that first statement was that he was transferring power to his people, and transferring this power of the kingdom to his people we would become accountable unto God to fulfill His will in the earth.

Matthew 28:19 reads, Therefore, Teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Because Having God’s power and authority, we are set over the nations as teachers, and having the power to appoint men in the kingdom of God we are to confirm upon them the power of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are to submerge men and women in the authority of the kingdom so that they can with us warn the world and turn them around to God.

The kingdom of the Antichrist will not prevail against the children of God, and the coming war we see on the arisen will be a challenge against the children of God and a challenge to the kingdom of God. And knowing these things, we will need to stand together in order to have a mighty impact upon the world as we command the kingdom of God on the earth.
