In my upcoming book “Preparing for the Season”, I ask this question, “What was the original sin of Adam?” and for the most part many will say it was disobedience. But a closer look at scripture will reveal it was more than just disobeying God.
When we understand what God did for mankind, and the jealousy of the enemy of God toward mankind, we will then realize Adam’s sin was an attempt to overthrow God and take the kingdom for himself. And why did he make this foolish mistake? It was because of the lies he was told and the partnership he made with the enemy who offered Adam and his wife support and power the assistance of his angelic beings that he might become a god.
Genesis 3:5 reads, “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” In other words, God knows if you obey my words you will know what God knows; therefore, having no need for God. “You will become a god.” Said Satan to Adam and his wife.
When we read the story found in Genesis three, we see Satan tempting Adam to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but while reading this story no one bothered to ask what this tree was. Trees always represent either individuals or angels in the bible, and fruits always represents the life of an individual. Therefore, knowing the fruits of Satan, God told Adam to avoid his counsel because the day he obeys the counsel of this fallen angel he shall surely die.
Matthew 3:10 reads, “And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore, every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.”
Now what is my point, well, we see a war on the arisen, and we want to know what this war is about. Well according to the scriptures, Satan wants power, and his aim at achieving his goal is to overthrow God. However, to do that, he needs to take that power from man, and deceiving Adam and causing him to follow his counsel, that is Satan’s counsel, that is just what Satan did. And achieving his goal through Adam, Satan is said to have become the prince of the air and of this world.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 reads, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid from them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
But what happened when Adam join his hands with Satan to overthrow God? God judged Adam, and sentenced him to death, and by doing these things, God put a limit on the operation and kingdom of Adam and Satan. He also judges Satan, and his punishment received no mercy, Satan was doomed to be destroyed.
What did God say to Satan in the presence of Adam? Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” First, there is an enmity between Satan and God, which means there will be enmity between the children of God and the children of Satan. And this enmity we see are the battles we have seen played out over the ages.
Now, let’s look at Isaiah 9:6, it reads, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” This is God coming into the world to accomplish his mission to destroy the government of Satan, a government Satan is attempting to establish through mankind. And because mankind is in league with Satan, they stood up against Jesus Christ when he came, and standing up against Jesus Christ put him to death on the cross.
Nevertheless, that was necessary because God was providing a way of escape for his people. Someone had to pay the penalty for sins, therefore, coming into the world Jesus chose to make that his first mission accomplishment and plan to establish His government on earth. But now let us look at Isaiah 9:7.
It reads, “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” God is determined to destroy the government and kingdom of Satan called the Antichrist, and what we see coming upon the earth is the confrontation between two empires made up of two different people, the sons of God and the sons of Satan.
Jesus’ first mission was to first atone the sins of his people, so that they might find cover and forgiveness, and finding forgiveness, they can return to the kingdom of God. And upon their return, they will be appointed governors and rulers with Jesus Christ to reign and rule with Him over the nations on earth.
John 1:12-13 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
