When the scripture is looked at from a purely religious point of view, it is hard to see what will take place on the day of Christ’s return. For many in the Church, there will be a rapture with many still debating whether it will be a pre, mid, or post-tribulation event.

Despite the debate, I have been sharing something regarding the day of the Lord every Christian needs to understand. But looking at the scripture from a religious point of view, we are first holding on to a failing doctrine that divides the house of God rendering the most powerful force on earth ineffective.

Let us look at several scriptures that will help us understand what the day of Christ will be like for everyone and why the call to repentance is so important and why we Christians are so crazy and determined to call on the world to surrender to Christ before it is too late.

Our first set of scriptures is taken from Genesis 3:14-15 ” The Lord God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

Scriptural Commentary

After Lucifer deceived Adam into rebelling against God, God placed a curse on Lucifer with the promise he would not prosper meaning his plan to reign over the nations on earth would not succeed. He will eat dust all the days of his life. It means Lucifer will fail each time he tries to establish for himself a kingdom so that he might become a god over the nations.

The prophecy of Isaiah 14:12-14 “How hast thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weakens the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Highest.”

Lucifer’s ambition is to be a god; he believes he can become a god by ruling over the people God made in his own image and likeness. If he can have the world bowing to him, Lucifer believes he will bend the knees of God. And should this happen, he will then win over the angels of God receiving glory.

The Coming Judgment

A declaration was made against Lucifer that comes from the anger of God, “thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:” God has set his face against Lucifer to destroy both him and those supporting Lucifer’s authority.  Psalm 91

When the demons saw Jesus coming, they ask Jesus this question, Matthew 8:29, “What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come here to torment us before the time?” There is great enmity between the Son of God and the seed of Lucifer the Antichrist. The demons, sinners, and all the world are in rebellion against God’s authority.

The demons know there is an appointed time for them to be tormented and were dreadfully fearful of Jesus, and to come, we see God setting his face against the nations. Ezekiel 38:1-2, “The word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.”

God against the world

If we as a church believe there will be a rapture that will take us out of the way, and if we believe the preaching of the gospel is to only save the dying of this world. We need to know the gospel is not only aiming at saving the dying, but also the living upon the return of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 7:13-14 “And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, what are these which are arrayed in white robes? And whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou know. And he said to me, these are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

What will appear with Jesus on the day of his glory? It will be the enmity that is with him against the enemy. And those supporting the enemy will come to know the wrath of God. And the church looking for the rapture will find they will witness the things coming upon the world and the ungodly.

Psalm 91:7-8, A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.” Revelation Series
