Jesus Our Shepherd {7}

This entry is part 8 of 10 in the series Psalm one

Faithfully reading the law provided for his benefit, and not scorning the law of God. The blessed man discovered he was in danger. He also understood from the law and instruction of the king, the type of judgment God was sending to destroy his enemies.

Upon discovering this plan outlined in the law of God, the blessed man knew he had to meditate on the law of God day and night so that he would be careful to discover how he can prepare for the coming season of judgment he knows God was sending against the world.

Meditating on the law, he spends all his days preparing. Day and night, he read, and reading discovered the type of judgment God was prepared to send against evil men.

And because he had faithfully read the law, he uncovered how to prepare for the season. And uncovering the blueprint of escape, prepared according to God’s revealed plan.

The word and message from God the king were his guide. Day and night, he diligently worked at preparing for the coming day and appointment. God’s blueprint was in the details of the law, the reason he took delight in the law of God. And being true to himself he admits his guilt, and so walked faithfully according to God’s grace revealed to him.

The Lord was, and is, a shepherd, the blessed man had uncovered that the heart of God was to save the world. He also came to understand why God was sharing this information with him, and the world. It was because God the king was a faithful king.

The word of the king cannot be changed; therefore, the penalty man earned cannot be changed. That penalty was death on account of his rebellion against the king. And because this could not be changed, the king must judge according to his word.

The penalty was; therefore, death to humanity because we are the family of Adam, the man who sinned against God the king. And because we are his children, we are sentenced to death as a family, and descendants of Adam.

However, to save us, God sent his son to reveal his plan to judge the world, and how he will judge the world. And this he did so that we might know how to prepare surviving the judgment to come.

Therefore, when he came, Jesus said, John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man can come unto the Father but by me.” Because as the son of the king, he is the way to safety, he knows how to prepare for the judgment.

And because he is the son of God and the shepherd that will lead us to safe pasture. The law has revealed we must follow him. Because he will watch over the way of the righteous, because the way of the ungodly, will lead only to destruction.
