The message of Psalm one is not for us to be passive after the word or law of God has been revealed to us. Upon receiving the law, word, and or instruction of God, we must become doers of the law or word of God.
We have the law, and or receiving the law of God because God our Father is expecting us to do something with what we have come to know about his word.
It is clear, the world is under judgment. Jesus said, “We are not condemned if we believe, but if we do not believe, we will do nothing to prepare for his coming, and so be condemned to judgment.
However, the condemnation is on account of us not being practical after coming to the knowledge of God’s word and plan. And because, after realizing God is sending judgment, and that the world, including we who are exposed to this coming appointment of God to judge the world, and refusing to act. We will be condemned to fall in the outpouring of God’s wrath.
But to save us, God sent Jesus to warn his people. God sent his son, into the world to become a shepherd that will guide us out of danger. Mathew told us, “A virgin shall give birth to a son, and his name shall be called Jesus. Because the purpose of his coming was, and is, to save his people from the penalty of sin which is death.
This is what we need to understand when reading the book of Psalm. We are sinners exposed to God’s wrath against this world. And being a part of this world, we are also in danger.
But although we are in danger, God has provided us a savior, a savior who will lead us to safety, and that is because he knows the way to good pasture.
We are sinners to whom God has shown favor, revealing his law and word, along with the instruction we need on how to survive his wrath, and coming judgment against sin. And because he is sharing his word with us, the expectation for which we are now responsible, it is for us to now prepare that we might escape the coming judgment appointed
