Psalm One Introduction {0}

This entry is part 1 of 14 in the series Psalm one

The book of Psalm is a book commonly read by millions of Christians around the world. However, reading this short chapter of the book of Psalm, we have overlooked many of the important details and questions we should have asked as we read this Psalm so that we might understand its message because what we have failed to realize is that in its most basic and general form the Psalm is providing insight on what we need to do in order to be blessed.

However, having this understanding, what the Psalm does not provide are the details, the details as to why the man in the Psalm was considered to be blessed. And in its most basic message, the Psalmist is hoping we understand that to avoid the counsel of the ungodly is to reap the blessing of God, and in his assumption is hoping we understand the rest of the details behind his message.

But as we read this first chapter of the book of Psalm, what we need to ask ourselves are “What was and is the counsel of the ungodly, and why did the blessed man reject the counsel of the ungodly?” These are important questions to be asked, that is; if we are going to understand the full message and the assumptions of the Psalmist. And if we are going to effectively avoid the counsel of the ungodly, and to be filled with understanding, the other questions we are to ask ourselves are these:

“Why did the blessed man take delight in the law of God, and what is the law of God?” Because at the end of the message, the blessed man was described to be like a tree planted by rivers of water. But as we continue to read Pslam one, those are not the only questions we are to ask ourselves. The other questions we need to ask ourselves are: “Why was the blessed man said to be planted like a tree by rivers of water?” Why was he said to have brought forth fruit in its season? And why was the ungodly said to be like chaff in the wind and wasn’t able to stand in the face of the judgment or in the congregation of the righteous?

In this book and series on the book of Psalm chapter one, we are going to explain the book of Psalm one which is the foundation and inspiration for the subjects that will follow to help us as Christians understand our role in the kingdom of God, and what we need to do in order to prepare for the return of Jesus Christ. Because without understanding who we are, and the core message of the scriptures, we might unknowingly reject God’s counsel and so find ourselves in danger of falling in the judgment.

In this series of books, and chapters, we are going to be explaining why the man seen in Psalm one was considered blessed, and why he took delight in the law of God and was considered to be like a tree planted by rivers of water.
