Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
As we read Isaiah 9:6 and 7, some of the key points we need to take note of is the reality that Christ came into the world to save his people from their sins? His purpose can be found in Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
And the second point and key we need to take note of, is that in addition to saving his people from their sins, Jesus also came into the world to establish a kingdom, and no kingdom can exist without people because the people are the ones establishing the kingdom and electing their king.
Within the Christian community, Jesus is our king, but for this kingdom of Christ to be formed, there must be a gathering of the people, the people that will make up Christ’s kingdom and crown him as king. The Bible said Christ will receive the dominion; however, what we need to understand is that the dominion will be given to Christ when his people gives him that dominion.
Let us examine this truth. After fulfilling the first part of Isaiah 9:6, and before moving on to fulling verse seven, Jesus first secure the eternal part of his kingdom. He did this by paying a penalty, the penalty and wages of sin fulfilling the first part of his mission as our king. And after he had so fulfilled this first part of his mission, he could now offer us the eternal life needed to establish an eternal kingdom. And now that we have accepted his offer of salvation, and now that we have accepted Jesus as our King, he is now sending us out into the world to do two things.
One, to teach all nations, and why? So that they might make the choice to become a part of his dominion and kingdom to come. Because by becoming a citizen of the kingdom of Christ, we will then crown him as our king establishing a kingdom for Christ becoming his people. Matthew 1:21.
Those coming to Christ, will become a part of his dominion when we do what Jesus said we are to do, and that is to baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
This; however, is not speaking to water baptism, it is speaking about the right to become a citizen of the kingdom of God and his Son Jesus Christ. To be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is to be given the right to function in the power and authority of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It has to do with authority rather than water baptism.
John the Baptist mentioned this at his sermon. Here is what he said in Matthew 3:11-12, “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
Let us take notice, John did not place too much importance on water baptism, instead John said, “I baptize you with water,” then he negates his work, and said, “But he that cometh after me is mightier than I.” Meaning water baptism is not what we need as a way to qualify for the kingdom of God and his Christ, instead, what we need is the authority and confirmation of the King of heaven to show that we have been accepted in his kingdom. And that confirmation comes only when we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
With that said, we can see that being sent Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” And by saying these things to his disciples and the Church today, Jesus is making it clear that God the Father has made him king and ruler over all earth.
And once Jesus had so established this reality in the minds of his people, Jesus then said to us, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
By commanding us to go and teach the gospel of his kingdom, Jesus has placed on our shoulders the weight of his kingdom. In other words, it has become our responsibility to fulfill Isaiah 9:7 with the support of Jesus Christ who said he is with us always.
And when Jesus said he is with us, we need to understand he is in agreement with what we do according to his will in fulfilling and preparing a kingdom for him, so that upon his return he will have his kingdom. In other words, to teach means God and placed us in a position of authority in his kingdom and this world.
That is why Jesus made this statement, “When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Meaning will he have a kingdom when he returns to reign and rule in the earth. Because as Christians, we are to work on increasing the kingdom of God, and by sending us out into his kingdom, God through Jesus has given us the authority to do just that…And his expectation is that we remain faithful in doing what he commands until he returns. This is then suggesting, Jesus will receive dominion and a kingdom through the work and efforts of his people who are faithfully proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, upon his return, Jesus will have a people, and a country, and a kingdom over which to rule.
Daniel 7:14 said these things. “And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.” And to confirm this truth and understand the process by which Jesus will receive his kingdom, let us look at what will happen at the end of the world empires called the beast that will oppose the kingship and reign of Jesus Christ.
Daniel told us, Daniel 7:17-18 “These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. But the saints of the Highest shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.”
Let us take notice, the four beast shall reign for a time, but at the end of the age, and at the appointed time, the saints of the Most High shall take the kingdom, and what that is saying is that we will overthrow the Antichrist, we will fight and destroy his authority and take the kingdom, and it is at that moment we will hand the kingdom over to Christ.
As we look through the lens of Revelation, we can confirm the saints will take the kingdom and hand it over to Christ crowning him King of kings and Lord of lords. Because what we see on the pages of the book according to John’s revelation, is Christ standing in the midst of his saints, and standing in the midst of his saints Christ at that moment will command his saints to fight back against the invading force of the Antichrist and overthrow his power in the earth.
A sharp two-edge sword will proceed out of the mouth of Christ which is the command of Christ to his saints. Both John and Daniel wrote concerning this truth saying, “I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;” However, this prevailing is not a loss to the saints, it is rather temporary.
The horn did not destroy the saints, instead, they were locked in a battle, the saints were being persecuted and killed as we approach the final stage of the world empires. When Daniel wrote,” The same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them” He was signaling that the Antichrist will at first have the advantage because of the patience of Christ to save the world because of what will follow His, that is Christ’s appearance.
1 Thessalonians 5:3 “For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” No one standing in opposition to the kingdom of Christ will escape the wrath of the Almighty, and because of that truth, the Antichrist will have the advantage for a season, or seven years. And at the end of the seven years, Christ will appear among his saints, he will gather them unto himself as he did when he appeared to his disciples after his resurrection.
Christ will at that point call for the dead of his kingdom to rise, and we who are alive to be transformed in the twinkling of an eye. At once both the dead in Christ will rise, and the living in Christ will be transformed, then Christ will give the Command to his saints to fight back with all their might and destroy the Antichrist and his army.
The words and prophecy of John will then at that moment be fulfilled that spoke of the expression of Christ, John wrote, “His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” Because when the saints are transformed into the image of Christ receiving immortality, or exchanging mortality for immortality, then will we shine forth the army of Christ to execute Isaiah 9:7. We the government of Christ at that moment, and at the command of Christ will execute the will of God on earth.
That is why both John and Daniel wrote saying, “ I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;” But after speaking those words, Daniel wrote, “Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.” Because it is in that moment Christ will appear among his people with the command to take the kingdoms of this world and taking the kingdoms of this world will crown Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Let us take note the judgment in Daniel 7:22, was given unto the saints. The saints of Christ will judge the earth, and what we see then in John’s account concerning the trumpets are the angels of the seven churches blowing each their trumpets announcing and commencing the judgment and justice of Christ against the kingdoms of the world until they are utterly destroyed as they take the kingdom away from the Antichrist and hand it over to Christ. ‘The seven stars are the seven angels of the seven churches.”
Revelation 13:5-10 “The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.
All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world. Whoever has ears, let them hear. “If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.”
