Do not Remain Silent

Psalm 83:1-4 “O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear,
do not stand aloof, O God. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”

There is no doubt the nations are plotting against Israel, and their sole purpose is to destroy it, and while Europe is concerned with the development in the Middle East, they are more concerned with their shipment; their investment made in the region.

On account of ignorance, the E.U is making demands for Israel to stand back from annexing parts of the West Bank. However, what they are ignorantly doing is aiding the Palestinians unknowingly leading the nations in the Middle East to war. This threat of war against Israel was foreseen and reported on by many of the prophets God sent to the nation, Israel.

These are wars that have been around since the birth of the nation, and these wars goes back some three thousand years, from the time Israel left Egypt. But what has the nations forgot, and are not willing to accept when it comes to Israel?

To start, the nations are not aware of the reality concerning Abraham and his reasoning for leaving Ur of the Chaldeans. The nations are aware of Abraham as a person of the Bible, but what they have not realized is that Abraham a man of history had willed the land he purchased to his sons, and that the custom of Abraham and his people were that the land must never be sold because it is a land dedicated to the God of Abraham.

Leviticus 25:23-24, “The land shall not be sold forever, for the land is Mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with Me. And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.”

Soon after his wife died at the age of 127, Abraham purchased a plot of land as a burying plot for his family. He bought the land for four hundred pieces of silver, and it came with, Genesis 23:17-18 “The field, the cave, which was in it, and all the trees in the field up to the edge of the property. It was recognized as Abraham’s property by all the Hittites who were there at the meeting.”

The land and property were transferred from the hand of Ephron the Hittite to the hand of Abraham the Eberite, the name from which we got the word Hebrew, and so the family of Abraham began to purchase the land of Canaan as an inheritance. In time the family of Abraham would grow into the nation we know as Israel today, a people who through legal purchase became lords of the land today called Palestine, formerly Canaan, the land of the Hittites.

They left Egypt under the leadership of Moses with the help of the Lord, “I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey–the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.” And what the world do not understand is that the God of Abraham is the one who establishes nations, who carries a man from his youth and made him into a great nation, and that being a nation today is the work of God for which we are to be thankful.

But here we are, God is moving to establish his chosen people, chosen because of the calling on their lives to reveal God’s mercy to the world, and the established nations God has blessed are now moving against the God of Abraham. For this the Lord will correct the nations for what they have done…
