A Child is Born {1}

This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series Why Christ Came

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

And reading Isaiah 9:6, it is not obvious why Christ came, but if we are going to understand this scripture, we need to investigate the past. But to save us time, let us examine this verse, but also reveal because of Adam we have all rebelled against God and through that act are facing God’s wrath.

It Should now be clear; the reason Christ came is to become the sacrifice for human rebellion. And I use the word rebellion because that is what sin is, and what we are aiming at in the future.

This then should help us to understand what we need to do in order to be saved in addition to knowing who Jesus is. And what we need to do is repent that we might enter God’s kingdom.

Now, I’ve said a lot in those few sentences concerning why Jesus came, and what we need to do in order to enter God’s kingdom. But now I will clarify and reveal the full story of why Jesus came into the world.

Matthew 1:21, “And she shall bring forth a son and they shall call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins.” Jesus came into the world to save his people from their sins, or from the penalty of sin.

However, we must not overlook the core and important reason why Jesus came. We are to understand because we are his people, he came to save his people, and focusing in on this reason we should ask the question, “why?”

The Child born unto us, or born to pay the penalty for sins, is said to be called, “Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” And we should take this to mean, because sin is rebellion, and we are sinners. He is coming to establish a kingdom, and that we are at war with God, and coming into the world, he came to establish a kingdom of peace. His titles bare his position on the earth. He will be a Counselor, God, our father, and the Prince who bring peace to the earth.

However, we must not allow ourselves to believe his kingdom of peace will appear with the peace we have in mind. Because this peace and kingdom of the Child born unto us will bring destruction upon the world and those opposing his reign.

Now, the Child is born unto us, so that we might escape the penalty and judgment of his kingdom. This is why I said we are to understand the peace of his kingdom will not bring the peace we believe is peace. The Child is born unto us so that we might find atonement for our sins so that when his kingdom appears, we will escape the penalty he will bring against sin.

The world is at war with the Child born to become the king of all the earth, the government of the world is standing on his shoulders, they are opposing the coming Child and king. And because they are, he will judge the world for sins. However, we can escape his wrath.
