This entry is part [part not set] of 4 in the series Alpha 2

I keep coming back to the point the stories of the bible are not only spiritual, but are also a reality of the past, stories written down by those who lived the experience, and if we want to know if God truly exist; all we need to do is look back at the past to see what men before us did, and why they did what they did. And looking through the stories of the bible, we know there is a God because the stores are based upon real events experienced by real people who have left behind the record of their lives.

The stories of the bible are stories preserved by the children of those who were before us, and because we are so far removed from the first days on earth, we in this generation seem to have lost connection with our ancestors, they are that estrange family member we never had a relationship with making what happened in their lives of little interest. But, if we were to make that connection, we will see we are indeed the children of those who were before us coming to the understanding, death is a reality because of the first created man and why we have the stories of the bible.

And if we are able to make that connection, we will understand why no matter what we do whether good or evil, we as a whole are facing the same reality, the reality of death, and will come to discover through the history of those who lived before us, we are on this journey toward death because of the sin of our ancient father Adam the first created man.

And although we are facing this reality, we cannot escape, in the very history of our ancient fathers, we will not only discover the dark reality of death, but will also come to discover they have left for us a solution to this reality of death, because what they have provided as the solution is the coming reality of a savior who by the power of his might and God’s blessing will restore us to life when he will have established his eternal kingdom, the kingdom the kings of the earth hope to get their hands on.

Now, we have so far talked about the days of Adam, and what we now understand, the story concerning God as Creator, the fall of man, and death is a result of Adam’s rebellion, and as we come to the story of Noah, we can see we are now dealing with a new era and time after Adam’s passing as we read the report of Noah concerning his generation. And as we read, we will see, Noah also responded to God, and as a son of Adam, Noah was a fragment of his generation who entered the dawn of a new world upon the earth. And reporting on the events that led to that new world, Noah wrote concerning the flood that destroyed the old world.

The report of Noah is a revelation of the state and population of the earth after the days of Adam, and reading Genesis chapters five, we were given the history of the sons of Adam in leadership, and the account of the population growth in each of their generations. Noah, reported, as man began to multiply on the earth, they became violent, and on account of this violence God chose to punish man, and warning Noah of an impending judgment told him to prepare an ark for his escape.

Genesis 7:1-24 “The LORD said unto Noah, come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

This judgment was upon the whole earth and everything in it including Noah and his family, but having a personal relationship with God, and as the bible records, Noah walked with God, and God through that relationship was able to share with Noah what was in his heart toward mankind. And having this information, the only natural response Noah may have had, was to ask God to spare his life and the life of his household.

God, then would have provided for Noah a way of escape, and as we read the story, we saw what God told Noah to do. He was to prepare and ark, and provide food for the journey, enough for himself and the animals he was to take along on the ark to preserve life on the earth. And having the instruction of God on how to prepare the ark, Noah was able to do what he was instructed to do and so escaped the judgment.

Now, walking with God, the bible reports, “Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him. And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of everything that creeps upon the earth, there went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

This is the report of Noah, records copied by Moses as he journeyed through the wilderness, and after he led Israel out of Egypt. Truly Moses wrote the first four books of the bible, and truly he is credited for the works we have today. But looking back at history, we know his parents had a great deal of influence on his life while in Egypt.

Moses may have been an adapted prince of Egypt, nevertheless, he was an Israelite, and coming to this knowledge on account of his mother who nursed him, and his mother who informed him of Pharaoh’s attempt to destroy his people and how he was rescued by Pharaoh’s daughter, God showing favor to him, the God who promised Abraham, his seed shall be as the sand of the earth. Moses must have seen this moment as prince of Egypt an opportunity to deliver his people only to find out the deliverance of his people was not to be by the strength of men.

And so, as we read the chapters of Genesis, from the story of Adam, down to Noah, we are to understand although Moses is responsible for copying this history, the original authors of these first chapters of Genesis are the work of Adam, and Noah two men who lived the experience of their time, and the history we have concerning these accounts are real and factual as the history of Rome.

Therefore, reading this event of the flood, and the building of the ark to escape the wrath of God, we are to know these were real events that took place in the past, and are events pointing to the future we are told is a future in which God will once again judge the world, and like before rescuing his people from the coming judgment.

Now, how old was Noah when he entered the ark, according to the bible as we read, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark:

And if we can remember, Noah gave birth to his three sons when he was five hundred years old, providing it took another one hundred years for God to send judgment upon the earth, which would indicate those living during the days of Noah had ample time to prepare for the judgment but did nothing to escape the wrath of God because they were unrepented, and sinful, and was willing to rebel, they simply did not believe.

And having this information, it gives us the opportunity to correct ourselves to know when God spoke of the seven days in which he was about to send a flood upon the earth, this information was provided after Noah finished building the ark which took some ninety-three years, and after those ninety-three years, it was time for Noah to gather all he had and put them into the ark, for in seven days God was going to send the flood.

“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark:

They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort. And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

Now, the bible further reports, the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. And the waters prevailed and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, and every man: All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days, which is five months and three days.

“Of the billions and billions of fossils that are buried just beneath the Earth’s surface, the vast majority are fossil fish. American geologist Dr. John Morris estimates that as much as “95% of all fossils are marine invertebrates, particularly shellfish” 1. These fossil fish are found buried atop the highest mountain ranges on the planet. Research link

The truth is geologists on every continent have found fossils of sea creatures, from immature to fully grown, in rock layers well above sea level; such as in the Grand Canyon rim 7,000’ above sea level. Its Redwall Limestone is home to brachiopods, corals, crinoids (sea lilies), gastropods (snails), trilobites and other various marine fossils. Research link
